Time & General
Speed Distance Time Calculator
Enter any two of speed, distance and time to find the third.
Speed, distance and time
Trip planning rests on three linked quantities: distance = speed × time, speed = distance ÷ time, and time = distance ÷ speed. Enter any two known values, choose which unknown to solve for, and keep distance units consistent via the site toggle (kilometres or miles) while time stays in hours. Leave the unknown field at zero when it is not needed as an input. The result assumes a constant average speed — useful for rough ETAs, not live traffic. For runners who think in minutes per kilometre or mile instead of km/h, switch to the pace calculator; for clock-face arrival after a known duration use arrival time.
Worked example
120 km at 80 km/h takes 1.5 hours. Solving for speed over 120 km in 2 hours gives 60 km/h.
Limits and assumptions
Constant average speed only — ignores stops, hills, traffic, fuel stops and speed limits that change along the route.
Frequently asked questions
Which field do I leave blank?
Pick the unknown under “Solve for” and fill the other two. The unknown field can stay at 0 when it is not an input.
How do I enter 30 minutes?
Use 0.5 hours (30 ÷ 60). Mixed hour-and-minute clocks are not a separate field here.
Miles or kilometres?
Use the site distance unit toggle so distance and speed stay in the same system.
Is this as accurate as GPS?
No — it is average arithmetic from the numbers you enter, not a live navigation track.
